這是台灣新電影接續《光陰的故事》的力作。青年為了妻小，學日本雜誌上的三明治人背看板宣傳電影；業務員下鄉推銷日本進口快鍋卻差點賠上命；貧民窟工人撞上美國車，咬下蘋果的那一刻才知最諷刺的現實。冷戰時期的亞洲孤兒，既邊陲又交織在帝國強權的核心，改編自黃春明小說，亦展現新電影戰將們的寫實技法。政治是虛假的，社會才是真實的，百看不厭的老經典告訴我們，這句話一點也不錯。

Adapted from novelist Huang Chun-ming’s three short stories: The Taste of an Apple, The Sandwich Man, and Vicky’s Hat, the omnibus film foregrounds several downbeat characters who fight and struggle for their lives in the developing country of Taiwan. The film depicts, sympathetically, their self-depreciation and self-respect, laugh and tears, and hope and despair.
