The film charts the lives of two immigrants to Hong Kong from mainland China across ten years. Xiao-Jun is a naive northerner with a fiancée back home; Qiao is a street-smart southerner who focuses on earning money and wants no emotional attachments. The lonely life in the big city inevitably brings the two into a passionate love affair, but their disparate life goals gradually make them grow apart...
