導演穆札法返鄉拍攝一部帶著私人情感的電影，他找來堂親薩費特合作，並力邀對抗當局、矢志保護森林的父親艾敏，以及九歲的小侄子阿里一同演出，一場「戲中戲」就此虛實交融的上演。錫蘭延續了強調自然和光影的迷人風格，並再度找來自己父母演出，可視為他的短片《繭》及前作《與大地共舞》的仿拍攝紀實，形成一部層次交疊的後設電影。 

The film tells the story of Muzaffer, who returns to his native town to make a movie. His father, Emin, is bent on saving the small forest he cultivates on his property from confiscation by the authorities. His nephew, nine year-old Ali, is trying to earn himself a musical watch, and his cousin Saffet, a young town dweller whose efforts are all doomed to failure by bad luck or by his own rebelliousness, dreams of going to Istanbul.
